Project Description
This project consisted of the demolition and replacement of the City Island Bridge. Included was the construction, maintenance, and removal of a temporary bridge; landscaping; guide rail; turbidity control; treatment and disposal of contaminated fluids and excavated material; archaeological monitoring and recording; asbestos mitigation; asphalt and portland concrete cement pavement; drilled shafts; steel sheeting; cofferdams; concrete bridge deck; structural steel; drainage structures; concrete sidewalks; concrete and steel faced curb; maintenance of traffic; lighting and electrical; water main; and pavement markings.
The project included eight caissons; 4-inch diameter, 5-foot-deep, permanent casing; 42-inch diameter rock socket; one Osterber load test, installed over water for pier foundations. It also utilized 52 micropiles; 13-inch diameter, 40-feet deep, permanent casing; and 12-inch rock socket, tested to 600 KIPS.
